Community Update: Overcharged, Era Arena and more!: Overcharge replaces mods for Era units, Era Arena replaces Squad Arena, arena currencies merge
Era and Loaned units get Overcharge (free-to-respec stat points instead of mods), a new Era Arena PvP mode replaces Squad Arena, Squad, Fleet and Grand Arena currencies convert into one capped Arena Currency, and a long list of quality of life changes is on the way. No release date is given.
When
- No release date in the post. The new temporary shop options below come "in an upcoming content release". Currency details are "still in active development".
Overcharge (Era and Loaned units)
- Every Era Unit and Loaned Unit gets Overcharge on its Unit Details screen as soon as you unlock it. It works in all Era modes. Stats show in parentheses on the Stat page, like mod stats.
- Each Era has 6 stat options per character, each with a primary and a secondary stat boost. Options can change between Eras.
- You raise your Overcharge Level by playing normally. Every Era and Loaned unit gets the same number of points, so building one unit never costs another.
- Respec is free, any unit, any time. Changes save when you exit.
- In-game recommendations suggest 1 to 3 stat options per unit. You can view other players' Overcharge setups from their profiles.
- At the end of each Era your points turn into Mod Materials.
Era Arena (new PvP mode)
- Squads need 5 characters with at least one Era Unit, plus your Loaned Units. Era units share select faction tags with every unit in the squad during Era battles.
- Uses the same Era Shard as Coliseum, so you face the same opponents in both.
- Each refresh shows 6 opponents: 2 Dangerous (max bonus banners), 2 Risky, 2 Secure. Opponents refresh on your first visit each Era Day and after every battle; manual refresh any time.
- No cooldowns between attacks. Several players can attack the same target, and you can attack while your own squad is under attack.
- Attempts refresh daily at 11:00 AM Pacific.
- Scoring: banners for damage to enemy Health and Protection, surviving ally Health and Protection (on a win), and beating higher difficulty opponents. Your weekly score is the sum of your best attempt each day. A worse attempt never lowers that day's score.
- Defense updates itself whenever you set a new daily best. Losing on defense does not take banners away.
- Leaderboards: Era Shard (ranked rewards), Guild, Global. Ties go to whoever reached the banner count first.
- Banners reset every Tuesday 11:00 AM Pacific. Daily rank rewards are claimed from the Leaderboard (unclaimed ones go to your Inbox); weekly and end-of-Era rewards go to your Inbox.
- Coliseum is changing to this same reward system.
- A new in-game indicator shows Era Level Delta effects.
Squad Arena retires, Training Mode arrives
- Squad Arena is retiring. Training Mode replaces it for testing teams and Datacrons, from the Squad Management inventory screen.
- Any units you own, up to 1 Galactic Legend per side, same-unit mirrors allowed. Quests do not progress there.
- Daily quests will require 1 Era Arena attempt; Episode quests take Fleet or Era Arena wins. Past Squad Arena wins show on your profile as Legacy Squad Arena Wins.
One Arena Currency
- Squad Arena, Fleet Arena and Grand Arena currencies are replaced by a single Arena Currency. Their shipment tabs retire; their items move to the new Era Arena shipment.
- Existing balances convert at these rates:
| Retiring currency | Arena Currency per 1 |
|---|---|
| Squad Arena Currency | 0.50 |
| Fleet Arena Currency | 1.00 |
| Grand Arena Currency | 1.5625 |
- Arena Currency is capped at 100,000. A balance over the cap after conversion stays, but you earn no more until you drop below it.
- No conversion date is given. To help spend down before it, the old shipments get new options in an upcoming release, for example:
- Squad Arena: 100 Prestige for 6,000; 5M Credits for 10,000; 100 shards for 4,000 each of Cassian Andor, Mace Windu, Asajj Ventress, HK-47, Nute Gunray, Darth Sidious, Kanan Jarrus, Grand Moff Tarkin.
- Fleet Arena: 3 Zetas for 6,000; 3 Omegas for 4,500; 40 blueprints for 4,000 each of Phantom II, Imperial TIE Fighter, Ghost, First Order TIE Fighter, Clone Sergeant's ARC-170, Ahsoka Tano's Jedi Starfighter; 40 shards of Sun Fac or Darth Maul for 1,600.
- Grand Arena: Mk 7 Kyrotech Shock Prod and Mk 9 Kyrotech Battle Computer prototype salvage (20 for 1,400), four Mk 12 prototype salvages (25 for 2,750), and four MK 1 mod slicing materials (100 for 1,500).
- Shard Shop also gets extra gear and slicing options during the transition.
- The new Arena Shipment has 27 slots at launch, including 2 Zetas for 3,800, character and ship shard buckets (15 shards or 6 blueprints for 600; Buckets M to O 12 shards for 960, e.g. Batcher, Omega, Hunter, Wrecker, Crosshair, Captain Enoch, Night Trooper, Padawan Obi-Wan), mod slicing buckets and Mk 12 prototype gear buckets. Full list in the official post.
New stat: Crit Defense
- Added in an edit to the forum post. Crit Defense subtracts from the attacker's Crit Damage before a critical hit is multiplied (the Crit Damage counterpart to Crit Avoidance). The crit multiplier never goes below 1.0, so a crit never does less than a normal hit.
Quality of life
- Raid Restart button in Guild Raid battles: ends the attempt without submitting a score and starts a new one with the same team, skipping the raid and squad selection screens.
- Cooldown changes from abilities are now shown in combat text. Unit Details in battle shows Health, Protection and Turn Meter as percentages.
- Promote jumps straight to the highest star level your shards allow.
- "Upgrade To" batch button on ability screens (warns before spending Zeta or Omicron materials).
- Batch Gear view: pick a target gear tier with a slider and see missing and consumed gear. Batch Relic screen dims tiers you cannot afford.
- New Squad Auto-fill on/off setting in Gameplay Settings.
Minor
- "Hide UI" button on Era Arena and Coliseum home screens. Click anywhere on a campaign tile to enter it. Completed Challenges and Events show a blue "Complete" button.
- Commas in numbers on Unit Details. One-tap copy of Ally Code, Player ID, Player Name and Guild Name.
- Search box for portraits and titles on your profile. Polished level-up and promotion animations; alignment-themed Gear Tier 13 visuals.
Notes on the post
- The post calls the replacement both Training Mode and Practice Mode, and labels opponents Dangerous/Risky/Secure in the text but Hard/Equal/Easy in its example board.
- The Arena Shipment credits slot reads "100,0000" Credits for 2,000, which is likely a typo; the actual amount is not clear.
- Crit Defense appears only in the forum version, not on EA.com.
